Emmanual Marsh

Emmanual Marsh

Statement to Board

My name is Emmanuel Marsh, and I am running for re-election to the membership seat for the UMA’s Board of Directors.

Public access to television is vital to a community such as Malden.  Ever since I was in elementary school, I wanted to become a news anchor/field reporter. I carried that dream through college where upon graduation I received my degree in Broadcast Journalism from Suffolk University. The ability to bring readers from different backgrounds together was one of the reasons I went into the field of Journalism. The other reason is to learn and experience different cultures.

The Malden Television Station keeps the community involved and informed.  Citizens learn about the activities that are happening in the city such as the School Committee and City Council meetings.  It is a way for the Citizens of Malden to learn about the changes that are transpiring throughout the community and to voice their concerns.

During my tenure serving on the Board of Directors, we were able to achieve much success for UMA and the Malden community that it does. During the height of the pandemic, we were able to continue to provide services for our community and learn to adapt to a new way of life by shifting to an online presence.

We continued to meet monthly as a Board to continue decision making such as working on UMA’s yearly budget, hiring a new executive director whose vision will drive UMA and helping it grow while continuing to provide equitable access for everyone and holding community events to bring the community together such as Rocky Horror night, holding a meet and great with the new executive director, and working on reaching out to community members with various helpful background who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors or on a subcommittee as a community member helping to provide new perspectives.

I humbly and kindly ask for your vote and support to continue serving on the Board of Directors so we can continue providing you with the best possible service.
