For more than two years IamBecuzWeAre the Co11ective took Boston by storm with a mission to shift culture in Boston. Four friends connected by an interest in the arts, entrepreneurship, and making a difference in the world were influenced by various cultural origins: Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Sudan. Sitting on a rooftop in their Boston neighborhood one day, they schemed an idea that would embody UBUNTU, an African philosophy that reflects a “belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.”

Founding members Papi Xampeux, Prophet aka Percussion, Radical One, and Jeremy Colon would pool their talent, connections, resources, and energy to host a string of events that drew crowds from various backgrounds. They would also directly support and encourage many artists and creators. Their work inspired many artists and performers to grow and expand their reach. People still talk about their amazing events and the generous and inclusive spirit that spread across the state and even New England.

Today, Papi Xampeux (also known by the MATV community as Masio), one of the founding members works at MATV, Malden’s Media Center. By the urging of Ose Schwab, moved by the IAMBECUZWEARE Co11ective mission, he invited fellow IAMBECUZWEARE Co11ective founders for a reunion at MATV to discuss the experience and legacy of their work.

Jeremy Colon is a NASM certified personal trainer, level 1 USA Weightlifting coach, sports performance coach, and sports nutritionist. He has done 3 marathons and has raised over $10,000 for Charity. On July 31st, 2013, Jeremy underwent a kidney transplant surgery where he donated his kidney to his sick father, who was on the verge of death! Since then, life has changed. It was after that moment that Jeremy has pushed himself to commit more to his health, as well as being in service of others who struggle with theirs.

Hailing from Boston, MA and having begun performing at the age of 9 years old, Papi Xampeux is a multifaceted and multi-disciplined artist. With a skillset in singing, songwriting, acting, video production and event coordinating, Xampeux has shaped his life and career around fusing art, culture and community into one promising perspective. He even won a national ACM Hometown Award for co-directing a video for a class of his students. He dedicates his time between making music, participating in artistic community events, and forming his own coalition comprised of a plethora of artists, musicians and young entrepreneurs.

Anchored in his Dominican heritage, Radical One has traveled the world bringing unique sounds with influences in Afro-Latin, Caribbean, Hip-Hop, and Soul. He brings a distinct flavor to bass centered future music in the likes of future latin/baile, global bass, trap, dembow and moombahton. Radical One shares his talents as a member of NYC based collective In-Good-Company. His music continues to captivate listeners on international media platforms such as BBC Radio 1, Beats1, Soulection Radio, Radar Radio & Reprezent Radio.

Prophet aka Percussion, a chief lyricist hailing from Boston, MA, is a leader of the new school with guidance from the old. With skills in songwriting, performing and music production, this artist sets himself apart with a nonconformist attitude. Barely cursing or using profanity in his music, he is able reach wide audiences ranging all ages. Prophet comes with a punchline heavy with witty word play and constant flow. He is able to incorporate life lessons with wisdom inspiring hope. Just like his dynamic background, Prophet is not limited to a certain style. He is extremely versatile.
