FINANCES
OVERVIEW
As with most other Public, Education, and Government Access stations, the primary source of Urban Media Arts (UMA)’s funding continues to come from Local Cable Franchise Fees: 5% of the Comcast and Verizon cable subscriber fees to the City of Malden.
Other sources of funding include:
- Grants from private, state, and federal foundations.
- Membership Fees: Community media centers like UMA typically offer memberships to individuals and organizations for access to their facilities, equipment, and training programs. Membership fees contribute to operational costs.
- Program Fees: Revenue might also come from fees for services like workshops, classes, media production, and rental of studio space or equipment.
- Fundraising Events: UMA may host fundraising events or community events with ticket sales or donation options that directly support their programs.
