Media Arts Specialist (On-Call)
Location: Malden, Massachusetts
Compensation: Starting at $17.00 per hour
Schedule: On-call; evenings and weekends as needed
Urban Media Arts is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and community-minded individuals to join our growing production team. We’re building a pool of talented Media Arts Specialists who are passionate about using media to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.
Whether we’re broadcasting local government meetings, covering community events, producing original programming, or helping residents tell their stories, every production we create helps inform, engage, and connect our community.

What You’ll Do
You’ll assist with a variety of productions, including:
- Government meeting coverage
- Community events
- Studio and field productions
- Live broadcasts
- Video editing and post-production
- Special projects
Every assignment is different, providing opportunities to develop new skills while making a meaningful impact in the community. You’ll work alongside UMA staff, volunteers, and community partners to produce programming that informs, educates, and engages the public.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who are:
- Reliable and professional
- Interested in community media and civic engagement
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Available to work evenings and weekends
Experience with video production, camera operation, audio, live production, streaming, or video editing is highly desirable and will be given strong consideration.
While previous production experience is preferred, we also welcome applicants who demonstrate a genuine interest in community media, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to serving the community.
Training
Qualified candidates will receive hands-on training in UMA’s equipment, production workflows, organizational procedures, and production standards.

Compensation
Starting at $17.00 per hour, with opportunities for wage increases based on demonstrated proficiency, experience, additional responsibilities, and organizational needs.
This is an on-call hourly position. Work assignments are scheduled based on organizational needs and employee availability.
