Project Summary:
In partnership with The City of Malden and Filmbuilding, Urban Media Arts (UMA) will carry out this project that will utilize a unique, discovery-based approach to filmmaking. This approach challenges anyone, from first-time to seasoned filmmakers, to engage in community-oriented change through co-creative visual storytelling. The process is inherently collaborative, experimental and innovative, resulting in films that are open to interpretation and meant to provoke thoughtful, community-wide discussion through carefully curated screening experiences. The initiative is grounded in developing critical connections inside and outside the community, and guided by experts in the field of cross-cultural dialogue and communication.
The project will be an exciting opportunity for media, arts management, urban planning, community development, and economic revitalization professionals to participate and lend their insights. It will also offer local community groups and businesses the chance to be involved, give input to the program’s reach and goals, and benefit in various ways.
