Gallery UMA
The Gallery UMA hosts exhibitions online and in the UMA spaces, featuring the works of local artists in Malden and surrounding communities to inspire community connections and conversations. Gallery UMA hours: Mondays-Thursdays, 12 to 7pm or by appointment.
The original “Humans of Malden” project, unveiled in the summer of 2023 by a group of college interns at UMA, was a photo-journalistic and film project that revealed the daily lives and experiences of people from all across Malden. The current exhibition features those original works, along with large scale, new works by locally-based photographer Susan Margot Ecker. At an upcoming art salon this February 27, 6 to 8pm, we will delve into the “Humans of Malden” project through poetry, music and storytelling in the studio of Urban Media Arts, alongside the photojournalism work in the hallways of Gallery UMA. Supported by Malden Cultural Council, a local agency of the Mass Cultural Council.
