Nature and Wellbeing- Who is Malden Film Series (Event #2)

As part of the Filmbuilding Malden: Our City in Motion program, the City of Malden and Urban Media Arts (UMA) is pleased to invite the public to enjoy a series of free screening events that will showcase short films that offer a unique lens to Malden and its people, places, nature, culture, and history. Each film screening will include a time for interactive discussion.

LOCATION CHANGE: Due to rain, this event will be held at the SENIOR CENTER/TEEN CENTER.

This screening will feature, “Understory”, a film that explores the intersection of nature, health, and culture. Though it will be held inside at the Senior/Teen Center, you are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and eat in the beautiful Atrium before the program begins.

DOORS OPEN 6PM. PROGRAM BEGINS 6:30PM.

Filmmakers: Yana Lapaix, Bijay Ghising, CD Collins, Tai Lam, Karen Buck. Filmmaking mentorship by Bilal Saed.

About the Film Series

Though Malden is a place, one can ask “who it is” as if it breathes and has a story. This is the idea behind the prompt 24 members of Malden’s community are exploring together through film as they participate in the Filmbuilding Malden: Our City in Motion program taking place this summer and fall. As part of their collaborative filmmaking process, they will share their films with the public at a series of four film screening events held in September and October 2023. The City of Malden and Urban Media Arts (UMA) invites the public to join this unique filmgoing experience and discover Malden’s people, places, nature, food, and stories past and present through discussion and film.
