Malden PorchFest is a community-led effort happening June 11, 12-7pm, bringing performances to over 40 porches all over Malden. The project is funded by a grant from the Malden Cultural Council along with contributions from sponsors.
To capture highlights from this amazing community endeavor, Urban Media Arts is inviting you as participant to share your videos, pictures, and reflections through social media or by uploading files to be included in a final film capturing Malden Porchfest 2022 highlights.
Deadline for sharing content is June 20. The collected media will be incorporated into a video to be shared on Youtube, UMA channels and at an August screening. Instructions below.
Aside from using the map and viewing the wall of performers, with links to their material, you can also view a schedule of performances.
Click on pins for performances, schedule, at each “porch’ address.
To upload photos, video, and other files:
For videos, both landscape and portrait videos will be accepted. Still, try to capture footage in landscape whenever possible, especially when filming long-form video (1min+).
For photos, both landscape and portrait are equally acceptable.
To share posts on the Social Wall
Q: Who should I contact if I have trouble uploading?
A: Contact Ose Schwab at ose@umaverse.org.
Q: Do I need to make a PCloud account to upload my videos / photos?
A: Nope, no account is needed.
Q: What is the file size limit for uploading to PCloud?
A: There isn’t one! However, it may take some time for large files to be uploaded, so don’t close the PCloud tab until that’s completed.
Q: Why do I need to give my name and email for PCloud uploading?
A: Technically, you don’t need to give your name if you don’t want to, you can type anything. Still, with countless people uploading to this PCloud folder, a name and email attached to files will help us organize the footage and pictures as well as contact you if we need to clarify something.
Q: I just posted some FaceBook videos with the hashtag but don’t see it on the wall?
A: If your account is private (which most Instagram & FaceBook accounts are), then you’ll need to make it public if you want your posts to appear.
Q: I just posted on Facebook with #maldenporchfest22 in the caption? How come I don’t see it on the wall?
A: Our social wall only supports content posted on Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, or TikTok. Just repost Facebook video onto Youtube, Tiktok, or Instagram and it will appear.
Q: How come some posts on the social wall just say “Instagram user” instead of the actual username?
A: If you want to see the original post, click on it. Once it’s enlarged, click the “copy link” icon (the diagonal ∞). Now paste that link into a search bar and hit enter. You’ll then be directed to that original post.
