I wish to be on the Board of Directors, because it is something I wish to do.  I feel that it would be great to be with a group that has a direct influence in the field of communications.

I have been a volunteer in a number of Malden organizations.  I have served as the Chairman of The Friends of the Malden Public Library, and been a member for many years in the Converse Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, serving on the Malden Masonic Hall Associations for many years as a voting member.

i have been involved in the budgeting process of many organizations.  I believe in a fair and accurate accounting of all money.  I served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for many years as a Finance And Accounting NCO, and was certified by the Department Of Defense Accounting And Finance Command after taking a 18 Month Course.  I also served in the Massachusetts State Police as a Trooper/Investigator in the Financial Crime Unit.

I will bring a sense of dedication and a willingness to work as a team member for such a distinguished group.  I would hope that you will consider having me as a vote to become a MATV/UMA member and giving me the opportunity to serve such the Malden Community.

When I heard about the opening on the MATV Board, I felt that it was time to apply. I have been a member of MATV for many years.
MATV was actually the first establishment in Malden that I went to when I came to Malden, some twenty years ago. Since being a teen, I have been interested in film making – the in’s and out’s of production. I signed up for the introductory class, and continued over the years to make films, to assist, take classes, etc.
For several years, prior to Covid-19, I was a part of the crew for LOT and Malden Square. Several times I was the guest on Malden Square to inform the community of the Mass. Senior Action Council.

In the past years, I have been a part of many boards and commissions. I see the chance to be on MATV/UMA’s Board of Directors to be an exciting chance to take part in the major changes that will be happening. I hope that my previous experiences will add to the future of MATV/UMA.

Prior to retiring, I worked as a nurse in many different areas. I also have volunteered at Bread of Life for many years. In the past, I volunteered at the after-school program at the YWCA.

Emmanuel Marsh

Emmanuel Marsh

My name is Emmanuel Marsh and I am interested in running for a membership seat for the MATV/UMA Board of Directors.

Public access television is important to a community such as Malden. Ever since I was in elementary school, I wanted to become a news anchor/field reporter. I carried that dream through college where upon graduation I received my degree in Broadcast Journalism from Suffolk University. The ability to bring readers from different backgrounds together was one of the reasons I went into the field of Journalism. The other reason is to learn and experience different cultures.
The Malden Television Station keeps the community involved and informed. Citizens learn about the activities that are happening in the city such as the School Committee and City Council meetings. It is a way for the Citizens of Malden to learn the changes that are transpiring throughout the community and to voice their concerns.

I should mention the future of public access television is under attack. Public access television receives its funding through the cable providers that service Malden. The new trend is for individuals to cancel their cable subscriptions due to the high cost of services. I believe we should explore different alternative methods to support the Malden Television Station. If elected to the board, I will work with the board members to increase awareness of podcasts and other social media avenues to help keep the community engaged. I will work with the other board members to help develop an app where community members can take MATV/UMA on the go, and work with city leaders and state legislatures to help find alternative methods to keep funding for this cherished community resource. Thank you in advance for consideration.

Bernadette Mutebi

Bernadette Mutebi

My name is Bernadette Mutebi and I have been a Malden’s resident for over 15 years. I am running because I have the means to put my best self forward along with the means to put in extra effort into accomplishing your mission as a board of director member. This will be an exciting opportunity for me to go the extra step for you as a way to shape MATV for the transition they are going into as Urban Media Arts. Therefore my goal is to help lift weight off your shoulders and build your organization.

My interests involve community affairs because I have spent time with the elderly in group homes and have volunteered at food pantries. This experience will give me the opportunity to help you reach out to communities and large groups of people if needed. I have also performed at large gatherings in front of people, especially in restaurants and in schools. As a member on your board, my performance skills will be able to show you how I can communicate confidently in front of people, accomplish projects or activities, and construct tasks as well.

If I became a member on your board of directors, I would be able to bring great team work because of the experience that I have had working with people from all different age groups. When I participated in your story-telling class that took place in June of 2020, I was able to enjoy working with your staff. Therefore this event was able to help me respect and get along well with your colleagues and staff. Being a member on your board will be able to give me the opportunity to bring to your board hard work and new ways to make little to great changes in other people’s lives.
