Join us on January 28th, at 3pm for a virtual screening of Youth Shorts!
Register for free or with a donation on Eventbrite!
Check out our FEATURED film, Learning About Invasive Species at the Malden River! This film takes us on a journey as the youth discover the Malden River and learn to identify and remove invasive plants. They even roll up their sleeves and do some work alongside Landscape Architect Casey-lee Bastien! Planning specialist Kate Jenkins-Sullivan and Conservation Specialist Tom Philbin also make an appearance and lend their expertise towards educating these young advocates and filmmakers. The youth involved are UMA’s Malden Catholic Interns and Mayor’s Youth Employment Interns, as well as the Malden Youth Community Garden Project!
Experience 30 Second Docs, a series of videos by our Mayor’s Youth Employment Program Interns! Each youth created their own short film independently, choosing a topic or issues they are passionate about.
And enjoy few other fun shorts created by youth over 2022 as well!
This Invasive Species Project was done in partnership with Urban Media Arts, the Malden Youth Community Garden Project, Mystic River Watershed Association, and Friends of the Malden River. Made possible by a science grant from Malden Cultural Council.
Special thanks to Karen Buck, Natalia Bayona, Ashley Freeman, Theresa Nguyen, Taylor Lee, Frederika Noel, Yume Menghe Xu, and Masio for helping to coordinate and/or facilitate.:)
