Company Overview: Urban Media Arts (UMA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit media arts organization in Malden, MA. Our mission is to connect community, promote civic engagement, and nurture arts and culture through media resources, training, and events. Job Overview: The Civic Engagement Specialist will develop, produce, and coordinate programming for UMA’s Government Access Channel. This part-time role requires day and evening work at the UMA facility, Malden City Hall, and various city locations.
Pay Range and Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $18 – $22 (depending on experience)
- Up to 25 hours weekly
- Vacation and sick time benefits after 90 days
Responsibilities:
- Produce and edit content involving government officials and agencies
- Coordinate live TV coverage of City Council and School Committee meetings
- Cover city events and press conferences
- Maintain communications with government offices
- Train and supervise volunteers and staff
- Maintain and program UMA Government Channels
- Coordinate election programming and candidate forums
- Perform general staff and facility duties
Qualifications:
- Relevant education and experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop relationships with government officials
- Technical expertise with production equipment preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Physical ability to lift and operate equipment
Working Environment:
- Studio and field work, including outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
